Often considered the “fun & creative” phase of the project, Design can be very emotional

also. This is when decisions are documented graphically, when the quantity of information

increases dramatically. Knowledge gained and decisions made during the focus phase

provide the basis to begin the Design phase - normally broken down into three portions:

Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Contract Documents.

Design is a process - based upon a mindset of problem-solving… as we

approach the Design phase, you will learn that we are not “Prima Dona

artists” (pronounced ‘arteests’), bent on creating a monument to ourselves;

we are creative and collaborative problem-solvers who believe that

aesthetics play one part in the creation of a successful solution. Here,

process is as important as the product. The process of interactively

communicating with all members of the project team and transforming our

mutual understandings into a usable, sculptural solution is an adventure

filled with excitement.
